Will Apple Still Succeed Without Steve Jobs?

Today, we mourn the lost of the brain behind Apple, Steve Jobs. He is a true inspiration not just in the world of technology, but also for the impact that he has made as a leader and an individual. Certainly, Apple wouldn’t be where it is today if it wasn’t for Steve Jobs. Since he came back to Apple 11 years after he got fired by Apple itself in 1985, he has taken Apple to the an entire different level and they have set the pace for the world of technology. Talk about Macs, iTunes, iPod, App Store, iPhone & iPad. And let’s not forget Pixar. It was Steve Jobs himself that bought Pixar for $10 million and then later sold it to Disney for $7.4 billion. That was how successful he is in his leadership and vision for the future.

With his gone today, so many questions has arise on whether will there be a new iPhone in the future? Will Apple lose in its market after this? What will happen to Apple? Here I am to answer your questions.

Apple will definitely be affected by the lost of their founder but his lost will just inspire the staffs to continue to do what Steve loves to do and to continue to fulfill his vision for Apple. Many people think that it’s the end of Apple after today. I’m here to tell you that Apple is not just about Steve Jobs alone. Yes, he is the founder, the brainchild behind the technology but even before he left, he has formed a strong team of experts that has been behind the scene. I honor what he has done for Apple and my post today is to affirm you that Apple won’t be going down as bad as you think it is going to be :) You would probably only see this team of experts in Apple’s keynote when they launch something new or in Apple’s commercial. They don’t take the spotlight but they are key people for Apple which I think you must know.

Jony Ive, the Senior Vice President of Industrial Design, who’s the leading designer and mind behind all the iMac, MacBook, unibody MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iPod, iPhone and iPad. This guy is a legend.

Greg Joswiak, Vice President of iPod and iPhone Marketing. Anything to do with Apple’s top selling products, just look to him.

Scott Forstall, Senior Vice President of iOS Software. He is the mastermind behind the Mac OSX and also the iOS your iOS devices. Remember SIRI, the new intelligent assistant feature on the new iPhone 4S? He’s behind it all.

Bob Mansfield, Senior Vice President of Macs and Devices Hardware Engineering. All the hardware on Apple products, he’s the man.

And finally, Tim Cook, the current CEO of Apple. He has been there since 1998 and he is responsible for Apple’s day-to-day operations. He have previously served as CEO a couple of times when Steve was on his medical leave. This guy knows everything about Apple, in and out.

You can meet all of them in the video below. These are key people for Apple and they will continue to bring Apple forward. Steve Jobs have so much trust in his team and he stated this in his resignation letter on August 2011.

“I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it”.

So what’s the point of my post? Quoting from Steve’s favourite line, “And one more thing”. The best is yet to come :) Steve Jobs will be deeply missed, but it’s not over for Apple. His lost will fuel Apple’s passion to even further to make its mark in this industry to fulfill Steve’s vision. Mark my words :)

Apple’s “Should” or “Could” at “Let’s Talk iPhone” event - October 4, 2011

It’s a matter of “should” or “could” with the release of the new iPhone today which is called the iPhone 4S. Many Apple fans and even non-Apple fans are expressing their disappointment in `this new iPhone 4S. Besides the new duo-core A5 chip, dual-core graphics & 8-megapixels camera, what else? Let’s not forget Siri, who is your humble personal assistant. Design is exactly the same as the previous iPhone 4 and it’s 3 grams heavier. People were really looking forward for the so-called “iPhone 5” release that even some case-making companies actually manufactured it before the announcement of the “iPhone 5” itself. All of that based on a simple rumour from China that the new “iPhone 5” will have a 4.0 display and so on. A lesson to be learned here;

Don’t read/believe in rumours abt Apple products. 20% truth in that. 80% = RUMOURS

Back to my point today, it’s a matter of “should” or “could”. SIRI, the new intelligent assistant feature in the iPhone 4S wouldn’t probably answer this so I have to do it myself.

COULD Apple actually come out with a newly-designed iPhone (the so-called “iPhone 5”) instead of the iPhone 4S today? No doubt about that. They have been making waves in the smartphone industry since the introduction of the original iPhone. Every new generation that comes out after the original iPhone have been revolutionary and has set the pace for this the smartphone industry.

SHOULD Apple come out with a newly-designed iPhone (the so-called “iPhone 5”) instead of the iPhone 4S today? My 2 cents, I think it’ a no :) As an iPhone 4 user, I’m glad that Apple didn’t come out with a newly-designed iPhone. If not, I would be rushing to get the new iPhone before my telco-plan ends next year. Isn’t that a good thing for us iPhone user who are tied by telco contracts?

Quoting from Jason Snell:

“Most phone contracts are 2 years. It makes sense for Apple to not make big visual changes every year”.

And I completely agree with that statement. I think it’s a really good move by Apple. Apple fans would know the typical style of Apple’s product. They don’t copy, they invent. They don’t chase after technology, they design the technology. They don’t follow the trend, they set the trend. And the list goes on and on. That’s just Apple :) In contrary to other smartphone brands that will come up with a new designed smartphone every 3 months, Apple don’t have to do that to increase its sales. Take a look at the iPhone 4, it was released in June 2010 and up until today, it’s still the number 1 smartphone in the market while others are still catching up. Apple is and will always be known for the way they revolutionize technology. iPod, MacBook Air, Thunderbolt, iPhone, and more.

So, am I disappointed that Apple didn’t come out with a new iPhone? Nope, not really. It’s a plus sign for me that I don’t have to rush to get the new iPhone 4S and I can probably get my hands on the new iPhone when it comes out next year, just in time when my telco contract ends. For those who are disappointed with the iPhone 4S, don’t upgrade. Keep your chin up & wait for the new iPhone in the years ahead. With the new iOS5 & 500,000 apps in the AppStore, that would still make your iPhone awesome!

Those who are planning to get an iPhone for the first time, get an iPhone 4S then. The experience of using the new features will catch your heart and make you an Apple fan, forever :)
